The UC Davis Department of Mathematics is offering one section of Math 21B Honors Discussion during Fall Quarter 2000. The discussion will entail group/cooperative learning among the students on discussion sheets designed specifically for that 2-hour period. In general, it is NOT a time to work on homework problems from lecture class.
The problems in discussion will range in difficulty from average to
challenging. There will be no outside homework required nor exams given. Periodic, announced quizzes will be given. It is an opportunity for students to work together on problems requiring cooperation and creativity. This course will
- be open to Math 21B (Engineering Calculus II) students, who enjoy working with other students on challenging problems.
- be graded on a P/NP basis, except for Davis Honors Challenge (DHC) students who will receive a grade, and will be taken in addition to the regularly scheduled lectures and discussions for Math 21B.
- be a 1-unit course that meets for one 2 hour session per week--
on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in Room 202 Wellman.
- have a limited enrollment.
