The Bay Area Discrete Math Day, FALL 2001

The Third BADMath Day will take place at Cal State Hayward on Saturday 17 November 2001 between 10:00 and 6:00. The location is Room S143 in the South wing of the Science Building. There will be clearly marked signs on the day of the meeting. The nearest parking is in the E1 parking lot, which is free on weekends.

Bay Area Discrete Math Days are one-day meetings aimed at facilitating communication between researchers and graduate students of discrete mathematics around the San Francisco Bay Area. BADMath Days happen semi-annually and strive to create a fairly informal atmosphere to talk about discrete mathematics. The term "discrete mathematics" is chosen to include at least the following topics: Algebraic and Enumerative Combinatorics, Discrete Geometry, Graph Theory, Coding and Design Theory, Combinatorial Aspects of Computational Algebra and Geometry, Combinatorial Optimization, Probabilistic Combinatorics, and Combinatorics in Mathematical Physics

All are invited to a (self-hosted) dinner at the restaurant Paradiso in San Leandro, where we have reserved a separate room for our party. We will arrange car pools from CSUH to the restaurant, and from the restaurant to BART afterwards.

There will not be any registration fee, but ALL potential participants are kindly requested to send email with their probability of attendance. Please indicate dietary restrictions and whether you will join us for dinner. Information on the area hotels is available upon request. • To get to Cal State Hayward by car, you can view the CSUH Map (pdf) or look at our driving directions.
• The nearest BART station is Hayward, from which the AC transit bus #92 eventually wends its way to campus. We will arrange cars to pick up participants at the BART station at 9:30 am.
