A Strong Quantum Effect on the Dynamics of Moduli

In this talk I shall describe how the dynamics of moduli (massless fields) can be strongly influenced by purely quantum effects. We shall describe the effect of pair-production: first in a field theory setting and then purely in string theory. I shall also point out some implications of this result in cosmology.
