Applications of 0-efficient triangulations in determining finitness (up to isotopy) of strongly irreducible Heegaard surfaces of a bounded genus in nonHaken 3-manifolds and of 1-efficient triangulations in determining finiteness (up to isotopy) of normal and almost normal surfaces of a bounded genus in nonHaken 3-manifolds.
