Description
By Margulis-Soifer, lattices in Sl(n,C) or Sl(n,R) have infinite index
maximal subgroups. They asked: are these (surprising) subgroups never
finitely generated? Using the recent resolution of the Marden
conjecture, this can be answered for Sl(2,C). This is related to the
pro-normal topology, pro-density, and the (hard) property LERF. This is
joint work with Y. Glasner and J. Souto.
