Branched covers of S^3 and level structures on the Weierstrass family of cubics

We'll take a topological look at a problem from algebraic geometry, concerning covers of a family of elliptic curves, and gain insight into branched covers of S^3, with monodromy in SL(2,Z/nZ) and branch locus the trefoil knot.
