Dehn surgery on torus knots
Student-Run Geometry/Topology SeminarSpeaker: | Michael Williams, UCD |
Location: | 3106 MSB |
Start time: | Mon, Sep 11 2006, 1:10PM |
The exterior of a torus knot in the 3-sphere is a Seifert manifold over the disk with two critical fibers. All Dehn fillings on such spaces yield Seifert manifolds with one exception. I will explain all of this after giving basic definitions and examples. Most of the talk is aimed at students with a minimal background in low dimensional topology, and part of the talk will discuss related research (for those who have a larger background in 3-manifolds).
