A gentle introduction to hyperbolic groups

The hyperbolic plane will be used to motivate the idea of hyperbolicity in general a more general setting. We then develop a way to look at groups in this more general setting so that we can define hyperbolic groups. The talk will be very expository without too many technical details. Lots of of examples. The plan is to show the big picture without getting lost in the details.
