Since an era of eternal inflation may well be in our past, a proper understanding of eternal inflation is crucial for deriving observational predictions from string theory. However, a rigorous understanding of eternal inflation has proved elusive. I will describe some progress in understanding the late time asymptotics within true vacuum regions, focusing on the dynamics of bubble collisions.
