The convexity of length functions on Fenchel-Nielsen coordinates for Teichmuller space

Description
We show that the length of a closed geodesic is a convex function in
Fenchel-Nielsen coordinates for Teichmuller space. This gives a new proof of the
Nielsen realization conjecture. This is joint work with Bestvina, Fujiwara and
Souto.
