Hyperbolic groups are a well known and well studied class of groups whose geometry is closely tied to the geometry of $\delta$-hyperbolic spaces. One would like to know: when is hyperbolicity preserved under the amalgamation? Bestvina and Feighn give a sufficient condition for such an amalgam to give a hyperbolic group. In this talk, I will outline their technique and prove a special case of the theorem.
