A bridge from surface singularities to contact 3-manifolds

Description
We will explain the relation between the topology of surface
singularities and three dimensional contact manifolds via so called Milnor
open books. We will give an example to prove that Milnor open books do not
necessarily minimize the genus among open books which support the
canonical contact structures on the links of the surface singularities.
