Quivers, clusters, mutations, and webs
ColloquiumSpeaker: | Sergey Fomin, University of Michigan |
Location: | 1147 MSB |
Start time: | Mon, Dec 3 2012, 4:10PM |
The elementary concept of quiver mutation plays an important role in the theory of cluster algebras. The talk will introduce the basic notions of this theory, review some contexts in which cluster mutations arise, describe their fundamental properties, and discuss links, both proven and conjectural, with classical invariant theory, and with the machinery of web bases introduced by G. Kuperberg.
No prior knowledge of cluster algebras will be assumed. Based on joint papers with P. Pylyavskyy and A. Zelevinsky.
There will be a tea for the colloquium at 3:30pm in the same room, MSB 1147.
