Classical geometry of numbers studies lattice point free convex bodies. In this talk I discuss convex polytopes with lattice vertices without interior lattice points -- hollow lattice polytopes. The codegree of a lattice polytope is an invariant which measures how hollow the polytope is. A high codegree has strong structural consequences. In the talk, I want to explain this result and its relation to adjunction theory of toric varieties. The talk is based on joint papers with Sandra Di Rocco, Benjamin Nill, Andreas Paffenholz and Sam Payne.
