The majority of work on Seifert surfaces focuses on those for non-split links. In this talk we will make a foray into the land of Seifert surfaces for split links. Along the way we will consider Seifert surfaces for non-split links in R^3, and take a look at the Birman exact sequence in 3-manifolds.
