The celebrated Catalan numbers count the number of secondary (spacial) structures of RNA molecules. In this talk, an application of moduli spaces of algebraic curves to the 3-dimensional structural analysis of RNA and protein molecules will be explained. The talk is intended to the general audience, accessible to advanced undergraduate students.
