Khovanov's categorification of the Heisenberg algebra

Because of its importance, the Heisenberg algebra has been categorified in several different ways. In this talk we give a broad introduction to categorification and then describe Khovanov's categorification of the Heisenberg algebra via diagrammatic calculus.
