Intro Talk - Pseudo-Anosov maps and geometric structures
Student-Run Geometry/Topology SeminarSpeaker: | Kenji Kozai, UC Berkeley |
Location: | MSB 2112 |
Start time: | Tue, Nov 3 2015, 11:00AM |
I will give an introduction to pseudo-Anosov homeomorphisms on surfaces, beginning with Anosov maps on the torus. I will then give an overview of geometric structures on manifolds, and in particular, how the Thurston geometries can be realized as subgeometries of real projective geometry.
