Introductory Talk: Structures on triangulations of 3-manifolds
Student-Run Geometry/Topology SeminarSpeaker: | Neil R Hoffman, University of Melbourne |
Location: | 2112 MSB |
Start time: | Tue, Jan 5 2016, 11:00AM |
Every 3-manifold can be decomposed into a finite set of tetrahedra with faces identified in pairs. I will provide a friendly introduction to two types of structures that triangulations can support: angle structures and hyperbolic structures. Then I will conclude with how two distinct triangulations of the same manifold can be related and what effect this has on angle structures and hyperbolic structures.
