Very early in the history of Lie theory, Killing predicted the existence of a 14 dimensional simple
Lie algebra, which he denoted by G_2. This Lie algebra has since appeared in many different
guises and has played an incisive role in many areas of mathematics. In this talk we'll use
the DifferentialGeometry software package to get better acquainted with this exceptional Lie algebra
and its influence on current research in differential geometry.
