Is it possible to recognize crystals associated to tensor representations from a given crystal graph? Stembridge proved an affirmative result to this problem for
crystals associated to simply-laced classical roots systems. He achieved this by providing a local characterization of such crystal graphs. Queer crystals are crystals
associated to the Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{gl}(n|n)$. They can be used to provide a combinatorial Littlewood-Richardson rule of Schur $Q$-functions. In joint work with Maria Gillespie, Graham Hawkes and Anne Schilling, we explore if queer crystals can admit similar local characterizations in the spirit of Stembridge's work.
