This talk aims to give a gentle introduction to the relationship between the eigenvalues of the Laplace-Beltrami operator and the Cheeger constant in the setting of Riemannian manifolds. During this discussion, we will consider intuitive, physical descriptions of the Laplace-Beltrami operator and its eigenvalues. The Cheeger constant is a quantity related to the isoperimetric problem which can be used to bound the eigenvalues of Laplace-Beltrami operator of the manifold from above and below.
