$F$-theory and a duality in the string landscape

Tools from $F$-theory have enabled recent progress towards classifying superconformal quantum field theories (SCFTs) in dimensions five and six. The resulting conjecturally complete classification of these theories in dimension six has opened the door to better understanding global structure of the string landscape. After a brief introduction to relevant aspects of $F$-theory, I will discuss this classification and how it leads us to uncover a novel duality between families of SCFTs.
