Student-Run Research SeminarSpeaker: | Joshua Sumpter, UC Davis |

The Circular Random Matrix Ensembles (COE, CUE, & CSE) were initially introduced by Freeman Dyson in 1962. Since then, extensive research has been conducted to better understand a variety of statistics related to the the distribution the eigenvalues of these random matrix ensembles. This talk is meant to provide a brief introduction to the topic of random matrices and related linear statistics. I will introduce some important historical results in the study of linear statistics for the Circular Beta Ensembles as well as some new results for statistics that depend on spacing's between pairs of eigenvalues.
