Reading seminar:
This will be a survey talk on Symmetric functions. I will talk about various Z-basis of the ring of symmetric functions including Schur functions. Also talk about Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions and a generalization of these to symmetric functions with two parameters. Will discuss about Kostka numbers, Kostka polynomials and its genalization to Kostka polynonials of two variables.
