The operation of affine blow-up -- a blow-up followed by deletion of the proper transform of a divisor -- is fundamental in cluster theory: the Gross-Hacking-Keel approach to cluster varieties presents them via a series of affine blow-ups. In this talk, we explain how affine blowups are reflected in the symplectic geometry of a mirror dual space, with the goal of proving homological mirror symmetry for cluster varieties. This is joint work with Ian Le.
