Convexity of energy functions of harmonic maps homotopic to covering maps of the product of surfaces

In this talk, we consider the strict convexity of energy functions of harmonic maps at its critical points from Riemann surfaces to product of negatively curved surfaces, such that each projection of the harmonic map is homotopic to a covering map. In general, the result is not true for the product of three surfaces. Joint work with X. Wan and G. Zhang.
