The computation of correlation functions in holographic field theories involves the study of Green’s functions for wave equations in AdS black hole backgrounds. These equations are often Fuchsian. They are ODEs with regular singular points associated with the geometric features of the black hole background. I will explain the general features of thermal correlators that can be deduced from the equations. In addition, I will also touch upon how these observables encode features of the geometry. Finally, I will also outline a connection to supersymmetric gauge theories, which enables direct computation of the correlators.
