Kitaev's quantum double model, a famous exactly solvable lattice model, has helped us gain many new insights into the field of topological phases. It is a model that supports anyons, which are localised quasiparticles that exhibit fusion and braiding. In the infinite volume limit, we use the concept of anyon sectors to classify the different types of anyons. Heuristically, it is the space of states that, when sufficiently far away, look like they contain a single copy of an anyon with a given type. In this talk, I will sketch how to fully classify the anyon sectors in this model. This talk is based on joint work with Alex Bols.
