Galois Representations
ColloquiumSpeaker: | Ravi Ramakrishna, Cornell University |
Location: | 693 Kerr |
Start time: | Mon, Apr 14 2003, 4:10PM |
The Galois group of the algebraic closure of the rational numbers over the rational numbers is an enormously complicated object. It turns out that many intersesting questions in number theory can be approached via the study of representations of this group. I'll explain the constructions of these representations and their implications to some classical arithmetic questions.
There will be a dinner after the talk.
