Description
In joint work with Swarup, we have produced a purely algebraic analogue of the topological JSJ-decomposition. This is not the first such
result, but it is the first which is a true generalisation of the topological result. I will discuss this work and some interesting special cases.
There will be two background lectures on Monday at noon in 693 Kerr Hall and Tuesday at 11 AM at 693 Kerr.
