Equivariant cohomology and localization
Student-Run Geometry/Topology SeminarSpeaker: | Brad Safnuk, UC Davis |

I will give an introduction to equivariant cohomology, which is an invariant of a topological space having a group acting on it. If time permits, I will also sketch some of the ideas going into localization theorems (which essentialy formalize the statement that useful information is contained in the fixed points of the group action). These theorems are the backbone behind many startling recent results.
