Growth in a field of obstacles
Student-Run Research| Speaker: | Dr. Janko Gravner, Mathematics, UC Davis |

Description
Examples of growth processes in nature include formation
of crystals and spread of epidemics. Often, such dynamics
encounter obstacles, which can be stationary or moving, inert
or reacting. When do such obstacles have dramatic impact
on the growth? The talk will present several aspects of this
question as a series of puzzles about the simplest models I
can concoct.
