An Introduction to Khovanov Homology
Student-Run Geometry/Topology SeminarSpeaker: | Ari Nieh, UC Berkeley |
Location: | 2112 MSB |
Start time: | Thu, Feb 1 2007, 1:10PM |
Last millennium, Khovanov constructed a homology theory for knots and links that "categorifies" the Jones polynomial. We will give a highly visual overview of his construction. If time permits, we will discuss some current research in this area, including categorification of other quantum knot invariants.
