An application of representation theory to topology
Student-Run Geometry/Topology SeminarSpeaker: | Rohit Thomas, UC Davis |
Location: | 2112 MSB |
Start time: | Tue, Feb 2 2010, 12:10PM |
Representation theory can be used to produce many useful results in low-dimensional topology and geometry. This talk will focus on one of them: the quantum-algebraic construction of the Jones polynomial. Along the way we will introduce representation theory of Lie algebras and practice using the language of categories.
