Neural networks store learned information, but the relationship between changes at the synaptic, neuronal, circuit and behavioral levels are not well understood. To address this gap we are throwing a “kitchen sink” of tools for functional and structural connectome reconstruction at a known site of learning, the barn owl auditory localization pathway. I will describe the neuroethology of this model system, its capacity for learning, and recent data derived from multi-electrode array recordings and high-throughput electron microscopy. The long-term goal is to understand common principles of information processing, and especially, how network architecture changes to support learned behaviors.
