Hilbert schemes of points on smooth surfaces are a very important source of examples of higher dimensional varieties. Their study has connections to representation theory, symplectic geometry, and algebraic combinatorics. These Hilbert schemes come equipped with natural tautological vector bundles which play an important role in their study. In this talk we explore the geometry and slope stability of these tautological vector bundles.
