Hilbert functions of graded rings

Description
In this talk I will sketch an algebraic technique to enumerate
nonnegative integer solutions of a linear system of equations. The main tools
involved are the Hilbert poincare series and Hilbert functions which I will define. Magic squares are nxn matrices for which the row, column and diagonal sums are the same and I will show how the above method is used with the example of enumerating magic squares.
