Topological Field Theories, Tensor Categories and Quantum Groups
Student-Run Research SeminarSpeaker: | Sanchayan Dutta, UC Davis |
Location: | 3106 MSB |
Start time: | Wed, Apr 17 2024, 12:10PM |
In this talk, I will introduce topological field theories in one and two dimensions, and discuss extended field theories in three dimensions. I will explore the Hopf algebra construction, highlighting its necessity in the context of these theories. The discussion will then shift to the construction of quantum groups, which are defined as deformations of the universal enveloping algebras of Lie algebras. Finally, I will provide motivation for the construction of braided tensor categories from quantum groups and their modules, elucidating their significance and applications in the field.
