Scaling properties of propagating interfaces as observed for slow-combustion fronts in paper and penetrating magnetic flux fronts in thin-film high-T_c superconductors will be reviewed. Results will be given e.g. for the scaling exponents, a universal amplitude ratio, and the strong-coupling fixed point, which show that. asymptotically, the dynamics of these fronts are well described by the Karadr-Parisi-Zhang equation. Results will also be shown for fluctuation distribution such as the spatial and temporal first-return distributions, and compared to those for the KPZ universality class. Reasons for the (non-Markovian) short-scale behavior and the related crossover scales will be commented upon.
