Message from the Chair
As a center for world leading mathematical research and excellence in teaching, and a home to 900 undergraduate and 70 graduate students, the UC Davis Department of Mathematics is a vibrant place to do and learn mathematics.
Our mathematical community is both socially and intellectually diverse. We take great pride in our relationships with other sciences as evidenced by our Graduate Group in Applied Mathematics (GGAM), the Center for Quantum Mathematics and Physics (QMAP), and the Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Research (ceDAR), and are also proud of our outreach to beginning mathematicians and scientists through the California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science (COSMOS). We are also partners with the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) and offer research for undergraduates, including NSF-funded REUs.
You can learn more about us and our mathematical activities by browsing our website and reading our Department newsletter.
If you wish to visit us in person, we have directions on our web page.
I look forward to seeing you as part of our community!
Anne Schilling, Department Chair
