Current Service to the Profession:

• I am an editor for SIAM Journal of Discrete Mathematics,
• I referee/evaluate work for over 40 scientific conferences, journals and academic organizations (NSF,BIRS,CNRS,NSERC,etc).
• I serve in the scientific research board of the American Institute of Mathematics (AIM)
• I serve in Prize committees for AMS, SIAM and MAA.

Current Service to the University:

• I am the first representative of the Mathematics Department to the Academic Senate.
• I serve in the Graduate Program Committee of the Math. Department.
• I co-organize the Algebra and Discrete Math. seminar

Some Notable Past Service:

• Member of the special review committee of NSF Division of Mathematical Sciences.
• I was the Chair of the Graduate Group in Applied Mathematics. for three years.
• I was Faculty mentor for CALESS The Chicano and Latino Engineers and Scientists Society, for more than 7 years.
• I was the 2017-18 Chair of the Faculty Executive Committee of the College of Letters and Science, and part of the University Senate executive committee.
• I was Vice-Chair of Undergraduate Programs (Mathematics Department)
• I was Faculty assistant to the dean of Math and Physical Science (MPS) for undergraduate education.
• I served in the scientific advisory board of the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM).
• I was editor of SIAM Journal of Applied Algebra and Geometry and Discrete Optimization.
• I was editor in chief of SIAM-MOS book series in Optimization for five years.
• I was editor for the Boletin de la Sociedad Matematica Mexicana.
• I was reviewer for AMS Mathematical Reviews and Zentralblatt.
