Almost European CM fonts
The Almost European CM
fonts (AE) by Lars Engebretsen are a set of virtual fonts which
build an 8-bit encoding (T1) for the standard Computer Modern (CM)
fonts. This enables automatic hyphenation of accented words. There are
a few advantages over the native 8-bit encoded European CM fonts
(EC): - enables use of Type 1 (Postscript) versions of the
CM fonts,
- provides a proper German sharp s instead of the crude
glyph provided by the EC fonts,
- gives the classic CM look - EC
uses strange font weights for large scales.
Version 1.2 contains changes from me,
- enabling proper kerning around
German quotation marks and
- lowering the umlaut dots, matching those
known from
german.sty
