In 04-05 I was the faculty adviser for the UC Davis
Math Club .
I am currently involved in
STEM Cafe
(which used to be Math Cafe),
a mathematics-related club at the University of California, Davis,
founded with the goal of encouraging students to succeed and continue their education
in mathematic fields.
It seeks for ways to let students tackle mathematics more comfortably and confidently
outside of the classroom.
A focus is on females as they are an underrepresented minority in mathematics,
but people of all genders are welcome to visit.
Winter 2018, STEM Cafe meets certain evenings close to midterms and finals in
114 North Hall (Women's Center Library).
See
this link
STEM Cafe
for details.
(Winter 2018:
Tues Mar 13
12:30-2:30pm;
Thurs

3:30-5:30pm)
Additionally, WRRC is happy to send a representative to your classroom
to give info.
If you are speaking in the
Discrete Mathematics Seminar
here is some information
for speakers.
Other
Some upcoming
conferences
From recent conferences,
here are my slides from my Invited Address on
Combinatorics, categorification, and crystals
at the AMS sectional at UC Riverside;
Fall Western Sectional Meeting
University of California, Riverside, Riverside, CA

Meeting #1134
where I also co-organized a
Special Session on
Combinatorial Representation Theory
Local Highlights:
The
2011
Math Fest
was July 13.
This event is open to the public, and high school students and their families are
especially encouraged to attend.
Our featured speaker was Dr. Robert Lang, origami expert.
Hear an
interview
with Dr. Lang on
Insight radio show,
hosted by Capital Public Radio's Jeffrey Callison.
From past MathFests (2009, 2008), hear
Dr. Perry's
interview
(cryptographer), and
Art Benjamin's
interview
.
11th-13th of September, 2009:
Algebra and Topology in Interaction
in honor of Professor Dmitry Fuchs 70th Birthday, at UCD
There was a special public lecture by Professor Tabachnikov on
Flavors of "bicycle mathematics", very apt for Davis!!!
The 2008 meeting of the
Graduate Student Combinatorics Conference
was April 12-13, 2008 at UC Davis.
Many thanks to the NSF and DE Shaw for their sponsorship and support.
The
Bay Area Discrete Math Day
was held at UC Davis in October 2011.
Past
