Section 12.5 Frequently asked questions
Hello fellow students!
Here is the most common frequently asked questions. In case you don't get a quick email reply from me or the TA, pleases first look up here.
-
Q1. Whether and How to answer the question such as "Why are you getting an error message?" or "Explain: What type of matrix are you getting?"
A: Answer them in your natural language. Begin a new line in textmatlab with % then your natural language answer. You can also insert the answer to such questions during post editing with pico, still stat each line with a %.
Reminders:
- R1. The file name is always LAB().text; LAB in capital; () is the lab number; .text in lower case; NOT .txt; NOT Lab; NOT lab These are very common mistakes.
- R2. Everything is case sensitive. Always pay attention to upper or lower case.
- R3. Submission is done in the server user home directory. Save and quit both textmatlab and pico before you hit the submission command "submitm22al LAB().text"
-
Q2. What if I missed one task, or found some mistake of previous tasks, after finishing the later tasks?
A: You can redo the task (in textmatlab) at the end of what you have written ONLY IF this missed/mistaken task does not involve a variable that got used in later task; If variables (including both your input or matlab output) in the missed/mistaken task get involve a variable that got used in later, you need to delete (using pico) all steps at and after the mistaken task, load the memory, and redo (in textmatlab) everything downstream.
-
Q3. When do I receive the grade?
A: One or two days after the deadline. The grade is NOT available right after submission.
-
Q4. Any preview of the grade before deadline so that I can make corrections accordingly?
A: Sorry but no. I did this in the 1st week and it is only a special accommodation when everyone is not familiar with this logistic. It is very laborious to inform you the grade while keeping some privacy before the final grade is published.
-
Q5. How to check submission status?
A: Successful submission command will returns an unnoticeable message like "sending LAB().text to m22al ta" but I am not exact about it. I am not sure if the ''Assign. Received" tab is working or not because I can not use it as a student. But I do not encourage you to ask via email. I can not process that much email.
